Clarendon Mews Residential Home is our latest acquisition. The building has stood here for over 30 years and has a long history of care, either privately owned or council run. It is one of the first homes to be awarded its registration certificate by the New National Care Standards Commission. Clarendon Mews boasts 40 single bedrooms. 36 of these are with en-suite toilets and/or bathrooms or shower rooms.

All these rooms not only exceed current standards but will easily meet the New National Minimum Standards that come into effect in 2007. With 6 lounges, including a smokers lounge and visitors lounge, the home is also hoping to cater for Day Care clients, who, along with clients living in the home, can visit the hairdressers on site. The work done on the home means it is virtually purpose built for high quality care.

The home is set in the heart of Leicester and is on the doorstep of many of the city's amenities. Interest in the alterations by local residents has been high. Many had heard of rumours of it being turned into a home for refugee's or students. Most locals had also spoken highly of the care the home used to provide and we are happy to build upon this reputation. We have tried hard with the alterations to not disturb the local way of life. This has meant doing much of the work at convenient times and even burning any rubbish and some of the many trees in the evening and on Bonfire Night to reduce the disruption. One local resident asked us to not burn the trees and many have asked us not to cut or prune the trees back. Unfortunately,
many of the rooms in the home were very dark due to the proximity of many of the trees. We have tried to explain to interested locals that although we are losing some of the bigger self setting trees and those damaged by winter storms, we have planted over 200 trees in the grounds to make a conifer hedge. This has made a secluded haven for the residents and will be a home for local wildlife that already inhabit the park. The grounds are being landscaped and will have garden seating and raised flower beds so that residents can include gardening in their activities if they wish. We hope to bring the highest levels of care to Leicester to compliment this wonderful home.
